This is an image from the MOMA show "Pinocchio." I was amazed by the whole show and there are a ton of beautiful images showing the miniature sets and beautifully rendered puppets but I was struck by this tiny sink in a doctor's office. It was so perfectly rendered right down to the ring of dirt around the edges. Not a corner cut. Every circle squared. I think it was Roman Polanski who talked with impatience about "not being lazy" when it came to getting the details right. Maybe what we call genius is just a refusal to compromise.
