Look at these "ancient"artifacts on the shelves of an old book library. It's part of the decor of the huge sprawling communal work space in the lobby of a midtown building that I discovered. It's a perfect  place to work that has been designed to implant warmth and character in what would otherwise be a soulless environment. This is a typically New York thing. There are little design touches all over the place in just the right amounts. Leather chairs wooden counters, marble and halogen and statuary and plush sofas and sculpture. Money can't buy love, maybe but Manhattan is proof that taste costs a pretty penny. And a lot of times it's worth every cent.
