This is what the sky looked like on my way home tonight. It's not fog. The wild fires from Quebec and New Brunswick have tainted the air from mile around. How can fire, the most elemental thing in the world turn into poison? Growing up we were warned about Acid Rain from industry along the border and the depleting ozone layer. We somehow fixed those things - or got them under control. But this feel bigger. More global and unstoppable. If you're an optimist, you can think that these tangible  effects will wake people up and stir them to action. But if you're a realist, you know that at the very least the planet we live on. Everyone'e home has been changed for good. You can feel that by the acrid smell in the air and the sting in your throat.
