This rose wouldn't take no for an answer. I was so worried a mail carrier or some other intruder would step on it, that I dreamt  it got crushed. Such are the concerns of rooters for the underdog in the wilds of the suburbs. If you were the type to anthropomorphize plants you'd swear it was raising its arms in victory or maybe saying, "What? You've never seen a rose growing through a crack in the porch before?" L'chaim, my friend.
