From the bottom the peaks look insurmountable. Like they belong to a different world. This climb was steep and muddy and wet. The shaded wet dirt gave way to small pines and clearings and delicious wild blueberries as our rewards. Then a sheer granite slope that was a lot stickier than it looked. From the top the world down there seemed equally distant. The wind whipped and everybody up there was smiling.
