This is a wooden bird carved along the walls of a temple building in Yongmunsa in Seoul. It waits there, flightless, for people to walk by in the right state of mind to appreciate a depiction of an animal usually way beyond our senses. The temple itself is a place where we can ponder thoughts that most of the time flutter out of our consciousness before we can get a good grasp of what they are.
