I remember when we were shopping for a new house we visited a lot f homes that were already occupied. Sometimes the residents or tenants would be inside going about their business or trying to look small. Coming into a stranger's house in those circumstances is always a little weird. You can't help noticing the small details of their lives  - photos on the walls, toys strewn across the floor or their choices of furniture or carpeting. Usually the overwhelming feeling is one of social claustrophobia and a thankfulness that their lives aren't mine. Some of the places were tastefully decorated and gave off a warm feeling but overall, glimpses into the private lives of other people is more than enough. Illuminated windows in the nighttime are best hidden by lowered shades.
