As an atheist, (or at least an agnostic) I'm not allowed to believe in miracles. Or saints. Or Gods. But there are people who have existed in human form that to me aren't completely explainable with the tools we have at our disposal. History, language, background. They don't fully explain Buddy Holly. He was a kind of alien beamed down to earth to blow our minds then disappear. What he did with music in an era when singers were treated like props was of another world. He insisted on writing all his own stuff and then producing it and achieved a kind of layered sophistication that was really like nothing else in popular music. As a barely known kid from Lubbock Texas in his early 20s. He sped through a career as if he knew his time was short and had to leave a blueprint for everyone else that came after. I'd argue no one really caught up to him until mid-career Beatles a decade later but imagine where he would have ended up had he survived? Something else
