Meeting with a tax accountant every year feels a bit like getting my medical physical. The last time I had a visit with a Doctor I logged onto my account and was able to read his notes from my appointment. The notes were fairly detailed and they seemed unnecessarily personal "Looks the age he is" it said. Ouch. That seemed uncalled for. I feel the same way when I go to the account and lay out all my finances in black and white. No secrets.  The raw numbers. like those expressing my cholesterol or blood pressure, situating me on a specific square of a huge grid whose borders are fixed. No place for a writer who deals in ambiguities and fluid emotional states to be.
