Seeing the moon in the morning sky feels a bit like catching a mythical being napping. Did a God miss their cue? Of course there's probably some sort of logical astronomical reason for the this to have happened on the morning of February 26th. But it still felt significant. Of course our ancestors worshipped the sun and the moon. They are so much grander than us and look over our lives in patterns that defied explanation. These massive entities hang in the air like magic and move across our skies pulled by a relentless but unseen force. And although our worship of them doesn't take on the form it once did, we still plan our lives around the planets and stars and when we stop and look up at a bright moon at just the right time and in just the right frame of mind, it can still lord its power over us.
