"Tell the Truth but tell it slant." Emily Dickinson's famous dictum about poetry or writing or art in general endures. Imagine if all your movements were surveilled and the normal inside/outside dichotomy of private/public was turned inside out. This is how it might feel. These glowing packages were on the floor of one of my favorite parts of the MASS MOCA - a darkened room that lends itself to illuminations and mysteries. This work embodies both strains - exposing a certain kind of violent officially sanctioned pre-judgment and shrouding its feelings about being targeted in a kind of cleansing light.
