The day the clocks change it feels as if the Earth has shifted slightly on its axis. Or if you don't see the sun on the train home for 4 or 5 months, as if you are allowed to peek into a room that's been dark. Suddenly you remember what it feels like to see the setting sun as you pass it going 50 or 60 miles an hour instead of glued to an office chair noticing the tone of the carpet getting darker, the desk lamp forming an island of light on a wooden surface or the windows in the buildings across the street illuminating like giant lanterns. The instead is a wide and distant horizon lit in copper from below like a low-burning flame. All in all it's a better deal and heralds all sorts of good things.
