Seoul is a city built in, over, around and on top of mountains. Because of this your perspectives are constantly changing and your view is often many-layered. This is one of my favourite views in the city. From up top of this old and interesting neighborhood you can spy strands of history and culture like geological strata. In the foreground, hard black streets to accommodate cars and delivery trucks, then above them apartment buildings from Korea's striving era.  In the middle distance are the high-rises that characterize the country's rapid growth and affluence. Then deeper and further, the ages of the city intermingle, its strands made of concrete and brick and glass, until lording over everything the eternal mountains stoic and vigilant. Unfazed by all that goes on below.
