Travel involves a lot of connecting sections that are uncomfortable. Long tram rides saddled with luggage, climbing steep hills or flights of stairs to reach an unmissable site. It all becomes a kind of endurance test. Somehow after a week of ceaseless travel the arrival airport of all places seemed like an appealing way station. Airports can be oppressive locations if you're stuck there in the processing stage but as a neutral with no vested interest in either arriving or departing on a schedule it can be an ideal safe square on the board. Secure, clean, well lit and filled with amenities, a good airport with views of the planes soaring into the atmosphere can become an oasis. As dusk approached the sun bathed the room in soft light and when a jet framed itself within the perfect grid of floor-to0ceiling windows it felt like we were at an ideal proximity between home  and journey.
